Course Description

CSA 800 Information Security Governance examines the knowledge, tools, and strategies
needed to create and implement a practical framework for information security governance. In
particular, students learn how to build an information security program incorporating policies,
standards, communications, relationships, organizational structures, and controls for effective
information security governance. The approach covered in this course is a long-term information security strategy appropriate for business operations.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop skills in getting the correct strategy, security management organization,
    and relationships with the executives and middle management that comprise the
    information security governance foundation.
  • Learn risk management and security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures
    that enable an organization to formalize management’s intent for the specific governance
    controls.
  • Understand the “soft skills” and security awareness communication skills needed to
    deliver the security message effectively.
  • Critically analyze information security governance issues and how they should be
    addressed.
