Course Description

CSA 827 Computer Ethics examines issues and controversies in computer ethics. In particular, this course covers foundational issues in computer ethics, provides theoretical perspectives, and includes analyses of various applied and practical issues. Students also learn about ethical dilemmas from interactions between individuals, information objects, and social computing technologies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the foundational issues and methodological frameworks in computer ethics.
  • Critically analyze the theoretical issues in computer ethics affecting property, privacy, anonymity, and security.
  • Learn and discuss the professional issues and the information-related professions in computer ethics.
  • Critically analyze regulatory issues and challenges and access and equity issues in computer ethics.
