Course Description

DHS 745 Health Policy and Healthcare Systems adopts the comparative approach to assess the performance of various healthcare systems to inform policymaking and as a result of international health policies. Through this course, students learn how different countries utilize systematic ways of assessing their health systems’ performance and benchmarking performance against other countries. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how healthcare systems in different countries assess performance.
  • Critically analyze data and methodological issues in performance assessment among healthcare systems.
  • Critically analyze the interface between evidence and practice in healthcare systems and policy.
  • Proficiently perform country comparisons of healthcare systems performance using appropriate data sources, measurement instruments, and analytic methodology.
