Course Description

DNP 730 Financial Management in Nursing Practice examines the fundamentals of economics, financing, and budgeting that affect the nurse work setting and nurses’ delivery of health care on a day-to-day basis. In this course, students develop hands-on skills in budgeting, financial analysis, and making a business case for improving patient care. Topics covered in this course include cost-benefit analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis, budget preparation, strategies for controlling budget costs, and updates on health reform policy, healthcare spending, and other relevant policies and statistics. This course also delves into patient advocacy and interdisciplinary teamwork related to economic and financial issues. (Formerly DNP 730 Fiscal Analysis in Nursing Practice)
