Course Description

DNP 735 Learner-Centered Curriculum Design and Learning Outcomes is designed for post-graduate students and nurse educators in nursing schools and the practice arena. This course teaches students how to develop, revise, and evaluate nursing curricula and educational programs to ensure learner-centeredness. Students learn about the evolving nursing educational environments, faculty roles, learning theories, and educational taxonomies pertinent to curriculum development and learning outcomes. This course examines needs assessments to determine the extent of revision or development needed to produce an up-to-date and vibrant curriculum. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand evidence-based and learner-centered curricula for nursing, from ADN to doctorates.
  • Learn and discuss the essential components of nursing education assessments.
  • Understand the impacts of technology and informatics on the nursing curriculum.
  • Critically analyze nursing curriculum development and research issues and propose solutions to these issues.
