Course Description

This course explores the design and analytic techniques that distinctly address quantitative and qualitative research methods used in psychology. As an advanced course, DPSY 820 goes beyond basic ANOVA statistics and regression models to test construction, qualitative studies, and experimental methods. This course emphasizes techniques in scientific research designs and analysis that help students produce robust studies. Moreover, this course covers unusual designs and analyses that are nevertheless important in psychology research, such as Q methodology, meta-analysis, and log-linear analysis. Research designs and techniques discussed in this course are all substantiated by examples from the literature. Other topics covered in this course include ethical research, significance testing, and writing for publication, as well as the dissertation and its proposal (Formerly DPSY 820 Advanced Research and Design).
