Course Description

Ed.D 872 Law and Ethics in Higher Education examines the legal and ethical issues impacting higher education. In particular, this course explores the laws and policies governing higher education and the application of these laws and policies to specific situations. This course also covers the ethics of decision-making and ethical behavior among higher education stakeholders, starting with educators and students. Other topics covered in this course are higher education leadership, institutional legal liabilities, faculty employment issues, the student-institution relationship, and educator’s roles in engaging with local, state, and federal governments.
