Course Description

EPI 653 Managerial Epidemiology and Healthcare Services explores the application of
epidemiological principles to manage healthcare service delivery. This course also investigates
the evidence and population-based decisions critical to effective patient care delivery. Students
also learn the importance of epidemiology to public health and health services leadership.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss the critical role of epidemiology in public health and healthcare service delivery management.
  • Understand the applications of epidemiology to managerial processes in healthcare.
  • Learn and apply evidence-based theories to determine management problems and identify appropriate resolutions.
  • Discuss the role of managerial epidemiology in fulfilling quality improvement imperatives in patient care.
