Course Description

HCA 673 Diversity Management in Health Care examines the essentials of cultural competence and diversity management in healthcare organizations and healthcare delivery. In this course, students learn the diversity management principles and practices that can be realistically incorporated into the ongoing work of any health care field or organization. Students also analyze diversity management as a key component of culturally competent health care.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand how diversity drives health and healthcare disparities.
  • Learn and discuss practical strategies to mitigate healthcare inequities and systemic discrimination.
  • Learn how to incorporate cultural competence and diversity management into healthcare systems from the systems perspective.
  • Critically analyze the advantages of diversity, equity, and inclusion interventions to improve the healthcare service delivery and workplace.
