Course Description

This course examines the transfer of assets, trusts, wills, gifts, administration of descendants’ estates, federal and state taxes, and administrator’s responsibilities. Students will be exposed to the practical application of estate planning. Through this course, students develop an understanding on key topics that would equip them as entry-level lawyers who provide practical advice to clients, draft simple wills, administer deceased estates, as well as determine solutions regarding wills and estates. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the requisite knowledge for drafting a will and administering a deceased estate.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and discussing the history and evolution of wills, trusts, probate estates and procedures, and estate planning.

  • Analyze estate planning and probate laws and case laws, rules, and facts, and describe the remedies for particular cases.
