Course Description

LL.M 602 Civil Litigations provides an understanding of civil litigation practice and enables students as entry-level lawyers to perform civil litigation in first-instance matters, timely and cost-effectively. This course is not meant to be a refresher course in civil litigation but instead, builds on academic knowledge in practical settings. Topics covered in this course include initiation of claims and pleadings, interlocutory applications, disclosures, collecting and presenting evidence, settlement, and enforcement. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Determine the purpose, audience, and structure of legal documents in civil litigation and write such documents concisely and cohesively.

  • Learn how to advise clients about the circumstances, good practice, and the requirements of the law in civil proceedings.

  • Analyze the remedies an aggrieved party may seek from the court.
