Course Description

MCA 625 Information Technology and the Law the legal challenges that arise in relation to
information technologies. This course teaches students about new information technology (IT)
developments relative to preexisting legal provisions, categories, and regimes. This course also
covers the legalities arising from delegating responsibilities to technologies and how to legally
cope with the emergent technological power.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze topical legal issues in the field of IT.
  • Understand, synthesize, and critically analyze the strengths and weaknesses of
    different views on such legal issues.
  • Understand the challenges of fitting new IT developments with preexisting legal
    provisions, categories, and regimes.
  • Apply legal reasoning to IT-related issues and challenges.
