Course Description

MCA 650 Introduction to Cybersecurity examines the issues affecting cyberspace and cybersecurity today. In this course, students learn about the necessary infrastructure and capabilities to plan their own cyberspace and cybersecurity expertise in a lifelong learning mode. This course covers vulnerabilities in information systems and organizations, risks in information systems infrastructure, secure information systems, cybersecurity and the CIO, building a secure organization, intrusions and defense, cyberspace and the law, and digital currencies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss the natures of cyberspace and cybersecurity.
  • Critically analyze the issues that affect cyberspace and cybersecurity.
  • Understand the management of cybersecurity risks at an organizational level.
  • Apply strategies for threat prevention and incident handling, including organizational risk management of cyber threats.
