Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence
Name: Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence
Course Number: MCA 675
Credit(s): 3

Course Description

MCA 675 Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence examines the people, ideas, methods,
machines, and outcomes in artificial intelligence (AI) technology. In particular, this course
emphasizes the role of people in AI, particularly people’s ideas that become methods represented
by algorithms, heuristics, procedures, or systems that are the backbone of computation. This
course also covers the production of machines (programs) called “outcomes” and their value,
effectiveness, and efficiency measurements. (Formerly MCA 675 Programming for Artificial
Intelligence).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand and appreciate the roles of people in AI.
  • Learn and discuss the primary methods used in machine learning (ML) and AI.
  • Learn to design and solve problems using the appropriate methods, with an
    emphasis on evaluation.
  • Understand how to select and implement algorithms for selected methods.
