Course Description

MEd 635 Schools Improvement Implementation explores evidence-based approaches to effective school improvement implementation. This course analyzes the human, material, fiscal, and educational resources that have to be aligned to improve student achievement. Through this course, students will learn how to develop a collaborative, data-based school plan addressing all learners’ needs. Students also analyze the instructional leader’s role in harnessing strategies that address culturally responsive instruction, social and mental health needs, and improved student performance, including English learners as well as students with special needs. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Critically analyze theories and strategies to institute, manage, and evaluate school improvement and the corresponding school change process.

  • Examine the use and management of technology in school improvement and its relationship to instruction, curriculum, and assessment.

  • Proficiency in assessing strategies used to build staff capacity to achieve school improvement.

  • Understand methods of identifying, acquiring, developing, and using internal and external resources to support school improvement.
