Course Description

MIR 517 International Relations in Global Issues examines the most pressing global issues
confronting humanity today and the role of international relations (IR) in addressing them. In this
course, students make sense of the seemingly intractable challenges threatening human life and
the planet that sustains humanity. This course covers emerging issues and opportunities
stemming from technology, innovation, and the unintended consequences of human action,
inaction, interaction, and ingenuity, as well as how IR can help shape a new global agenda for
addressing these issues.
