MIR 609 International Relations and Geopolitics examines the integration of international
relations (IR) and geopolitics to produce a mutually beneficial, scholarly, rewarding, and fruitful
approach to studying IR. Through this course, students learn how IR and geopolitics interact with
one another to address pressing global issues that include energy, the environment, and the world
economy. Students also learn to apply IR and geopolitics to analyze the state of world politics
and the foreign policy of nations and other territorially embedded actors within the world today.
