Course Description

MIR 613 International Organizations examines international organizations (IOs) involved in
global social governance. Through this course, students learn about IO involvement in a
particular social policy field and, in particular, the dominant IOs setting the trends in the field.
Moreover, this course also tackles the discourses within and between these IOs on the respective social policies. By examining the population of IOs and their discourses in different policy fields, students gain insights into different projects in global social policy fields.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss the IOs involved in global social governance.
  • Understand the various trends that these IOs establish.
  • Critically analyze the discourses within and between these IOs on the respective
    social policies.
  • Examine the different IO projects in global social policy fields.
