Course Description

MPH 505 Health Behavior and Public Health provides a comprehensive, post-graduate level overview of principles and theoretical perspectives on the determinants of health behavior and public health. This course teaches students the psychological, social, and cultural influences on health behavior and behavioral change within the public health landscape. Students learn the state of the science in health behavior and public health interventions, encompassing individual, family, community, and policy interventions. Topics covered in this course include social and behavioral sciences in public health, models of health behavior relevant to public health, and community and group models of health behavior change.
