Course Description

MSN 515 Community Health Nursing examines nursing practice combining primary and community healthcare. Students learn about how community nursing works, how to work effectively in community settings, and the skills required to work with the challenges of community nursing activities. Topics covered in this course include working with vulnerable groups and with carers and their families, community care, undertaking community-based placements, mental health in the community, and disabilities pathways where health care in the community setting is delivered. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the scope of community health nursing.
  • Understand the roles of community nurses.
  • Critically analyze policy developments and research perspectives on community health work.
  • Learn how to apply the nursing process to individuals, families, groups, aggregates, and communities in various settings.
