Course Description

PhDTh 800 Systematic Theology examines systematic theology from a Trinitarian perspective, shedding light on other key doctrines-from prolegomena to eschatology and theological ethics. In this course, students learn about systematics from various theological traditions and geographical locations, allowing them to approach all facets of the faith from a self-consciously Trinitarian perspective. Topics covered in this course include the prolegomena, the Trinity in the Hebrew Scriptures, the relevance of the ‘eternal’ Trinity, sin and grace, the sinlessness of Jesus, the Trinity and the Church, and sacramental theology. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn and discuss systematic theology from a Trinitarian perspective.
  • Learn and discuss key Catholic doctrines, from prolegomena to eschatology and theological ethics.
  • Critically analyze systematics from different theological traditions.
  • Develop an approach to faith from a Trinitarian perspective.
