Course Description

PhDTh 938 Doctoral Seminar in Research Methods is designed for doctoral students seeking to enhance their research competencies from methods courses, particularly in the social sciences (including theology) and the humanities (including philosophy). Through this course, students learn the appropriate methods and designs and issues that might emerge during their dissertation process, from the proposal stage to the oral defense stage. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop proficiency in selecting the appropriate methodology for their future dissertation proposal and dissertation.
  • Understand specific procedures or techniques in data collection within a given set of methods or in a specific context of inquiry.
  • Learn the challenges encountered in the social sciences and humanities dissertation process.
