Course Description

PSY 504 Psychopathology delves into psychological theory and research concerning abnormal and maladaptive human behaviors as outlined in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-V, 2013). This course analyzes and discusses major categories of abnormal behavioral disorders, emphasizing theory, research, and historical trends. Special attention is given to theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and diagnostic and treatment techniques for psychological problems.
