Course Description

“PSY 517 Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology” explores medications for treating psychological disorders in children and adolescents. The course covers evidence-based treatments for pervasive developmental disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and psychotic illnesses. Students learn about the long-term effects based on clinical trials and develop skills for making ethical psychopharmacological decisions in pediatric care.

  • Understand medication administration methods and their impacts on action, metabolism, and absorption in children and adolescents.
  • Investigate the application of medications in preventing and treating specific psychopathological dysfunctions in this population.
